Macro Photography : Atala by JohannesOehl

This butterfly warns with colors it’s enemy not to eat it, because as a caterpillar it eats plants, which are containing poison.

Eumaeus atala florida were believed to have been extinct because it was not seen in the years 1937-1959. This species is living only in south of florida and the keys.

I shot this foto in a very beautiful botanical garden “Fairchild Botanical Garden” in Miami. It was resting on a plant, near many flowers. The perfect place for a butterfly I can imagine.
